About the Energy Grounding & Shielding Workshop:
If you want a structure to be strong, you must first start with building a proper foundation. Visiting Healer Rev. Richard Malz says, "I can relate to someone who feels like they have so much to offer, brimming with the desire to do good and share their gift. The problem is that all too often, I’m helping clients who have found themselves immersed in an energetic stormy sea when they thought they were only jumping into the pool."
The purpose of this workshop is to give everyone some foundational tips and tools to set your space before you build a more magical structure. Richard will teach how to ground, balance, and shield yourself before working on or reading for others.
One of the reasons why you must practice in foundational tools is to make sure that when you are in session, the energy you use does not belong to the person you have just worked with. Richard relates, "I can’t even count the number of people who have come to me in crisis, afraid of someone else’s ghosts."
To work on shielding is vital for one’s mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. When Richard teaches Reiki he makes it a part of the class, so his students are channeling an energy that’s pure and not giving too much of themselves. For example, you may work with someone and later feel like your energy is off. Very often, there are symptoms such as headache, dizziness, feeling impatient, or being short-tempered with your friends or loved ones. Either you have depleted your energy or taken on someone else's that is not yours.
In this workshop, you will learn how to make sure that when you’re working with someone, you’re not confusing your energy with the client’s. If you're not properly shielded, you can all too often wind up carrying a burden that isn’t yours. It is not ideal to carry a burden that doesn’t belong to you.
We will be working to shore up some of these foundational tools for those of you who wish to continue on this medicine path.

Rev. Richard Malz, RMT has been a Certified Usui Reiki Master for over 20 years. Reiki is a spiritually guided life force energy that helps facilitate the body’s own healing powers to work more efficiently. It helps enable healing and balancing energy physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Richard has had excellent and consistent results working on various ailments, especially joint, muscle, and ligament pain (he's especially awesome with knees). Richard doesn't use the traditional methods, but rather those he has developed himself, where he "blasts" the Reiki energy so it is much more powerful and effective. Don’t worry, it’s still usually a gentle technique!
More than any other gifts, Richard has been channeling from Spirit the longest. He has been giving messages to people since childhood. He did not know where the wisdom came from but, as he got older and learned about communication with Spirit, it became clear.
Richard was ordained as a minister in the Congregation of Spiritual Alternatives in 2001.
Richard lets himself be guided by Spirit to do what best serves a client's needs at the time. While Reiki and channeling are usually his two main tools, he has extensively studied and learned various other modalities and incorporate them as needed and as Spirit directs him. These primarily include Rhythm Therapy, Integrated Energy Therapy (IET), Psychic Surgery, and Shamanic Journeying. Sometimes, Spirit even guides Richard in how to use techniques that are completely new to him.
