About the Women's Creative Self-Care Group
Join us for a weekly deep dive into our self-care as women. This is a 4-week group focusing on the four key domains of self-care: emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being. Self-care involves focusing on yourself and taking time to rest, reflect, replenish, and renew. The group will explore topics like self-compassion, balance, boundaries, and resources. Using the creative and intuitive tools of yoga and the expressive arts such as soul collage, painting, drama, poetry, dance, and music to uncover, release, and befriend parts of our self.
NOTE: This is an experiential and active group. Please be prepared to move, play, and express yourself.
Wednesday, FEBRUARY 23: Soul collage + other activities
Focus: Strengths; exploring personal, interpersonal and transpersonal strengths.
How can we know how to take care of ourselves if we aren't aware of the strengths that already exist within us and all around us? In this particular session we will explore three main resources of strengths we can draw from; intrapsychic, interpersonal, and transpersonal. We will move gently and together to create a ritual space with candles, music and flowers to safely explore our strengths. We will start by creating circles of strengths around us with objects and cards and engage in a brief discussion and exploration about self-care. We will then ease into our bodies with some gentle yoga and a guided meditation that moves us into experiential activities involving free writing, play, and soul collage. My hope and intention is that you will leave feeling nourished and connected to your strengths.
Wednesday, MARCH 2: Painting + other activities
Focus: Self-compassion; exploring our internal landscapes
Do you treat yourself like you would a good friend? Do you know how to provide for and soothe your innermost being? Do you sometimes override your ability to protect and validate your feelings? Together with the guidance of self-compassion, we will learn how to care for parts of ourselves that need caring. In this particular session we will explore the inner-roles of self-compassion. We will move gently and together to create a ritual space with candles, music and flowers to safely explore how we care for ourselves. We will start with a brief discussion and exploration about self-compassion and move into group and partner exercises that help embody and awaken the the roles of self-compassion within us. We will then settle into our bodies with some gentle yoga, a guided meditation, and painting activity. My hope and intention is that you will leave feeling nourished and more mindful of how you befriend yourself.
Wednesday, MARCH 9: Molding clay + other activities
Focus: Exploring our internal role repertoire
How many roles are in your everyday repertoire? How easy or hard is it to express these roles? Is there room for flexibility? In this session we will explore the active and dormant everyday roles and archetypal roles we embody. We will move gently and playfully to create a ritual space with candles, music, flowers and yoga. Culminating with a creative exploration of our internal roles using molding clay.
Wednesday, MARCH 16: Free writing + other activities
Focus: Our internal balance wheel
How do we bring more balance into our lives? What areas are tipping the scales and what areas are calling out for more attention? We will move gently and playfully to create a ritual space with candles, music, flowers and yoga. In this session we will creatively explore our internal balance wheel using experiential activities: free writing, movement, collage.
