About the Shamanic Journey to Meet Your Ancestors
Across many cultures, this season is a time to honor our ancestors and those who came before us. Traditions such as Día de los Muertos and Samhain recognize this as a sacred time for remembrance, gratitude, and connection.
Join us for a heart-centered afternoon of cacao, shamanic journeying, sound healing, and community ritual as we honor the lineage of those who have shaped our lives. Together we will create a community ancestor altar.
The afternoon will include:
Teachings about honoring our ancestors from a shamanic perspective
ceremonial cacao direct trade from Mayan Wisdom Traditions (provided & optional)
A guided shamanic sound journey to receive guidance, healing, and reassurance from your ancestors and helping spirits
Time for journaling, reflection, and optional sharing
Please bring:
One item for the community ancestor altar: a photo, keepsake, or flower
A journal and pen
An insulated cup
Anything you'd like to be comfortable lying on the floor (yoga mat, blanket, pillow, etc.)
Some blankets, bolsters, eye masks, and a limited number of insulated cups will be available.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to get cacao and make nest. DUE TO THE UNINTERRUPTIBLE NATURE: NO ENTRY AFTER 11:15 AM!
About Mary Ledvina
Mary Ledvina (she/her) has been studying and working with her guides for over twenty-five years. In 2023, she formally trained as a cacaoista with Sorrell Robbins, also known as Plant Spirit Medicine Woman, after completing her year-long shamanic training.
Healing is the intention woven into every aspect of Mary’s work. She leads monthly group journeys, maintains a daily practice of meditation and journaling, and commits to longer solo shamanic journeys at least twice a week.

About Dawn Zuidema
Dawn Zuidema (she/her) founder of New Dawn Arising is a transformational guide who facilitates breathwork, sound therapy, Reiki, meditation, Yoga Nidra, and laughter yoga, amongst other modalities. She meets you where you are and creates a bridge to connect who you are now to who you want to become (aka your authentic self) with love, safety, and support.
Dawn is an example of her work with her daily morning practice consisting of journaling, yoga, breathwork, or meditation and connection to her soul. She leads the monthly group Remembrance Journeys, which combines breathwork, sound journey, Reiki, and poetry for you to remember who you were before external influences got in your way. She also facilitates 1:1 coaching and sessions in all modalities.
