About Rev. Richard Malz:
Richard has been a Reiki Master for well over 25 years. Before then, he had always had been drawn towards bodywork massage to intuitively help friends and loved ones, which eventually evolved to moments where people who needed guidance somehow came across his path.
Richard's first recollection of channeling a message from Spirit was around 12 years old. Having a teacher in junior high school tell him about his life and his marriage, Richard can still see the look in his eyes, finding comfort in the messages Richard shared. To this day, he doesn’t remember what he said but can recall the teacher thanking him with emotion.
Studying different approaches to spirituality and healing has given Richard a well-rounded respect that honoring yourself while allowing that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs can be liberating. It gives one the freedom to work within a variety of modalities. In 1999, Richard was supporting his girlfriend at the time on a vision quest up in Big Indian, NY. They got to the longhouse early and there was a couple already there. A large man, Chief TueBear, and a plainly dressed scientist whom Richard now considers a sister, Ocie Wolffe, were sitting across from them. TueBear allowed Richard to help bring some feeling into his fingers with a Reiki treatment. Richard recounts, "I recall Ocie telling me that TueBear never let anyone work on him, as he happily felt the tingling of my work." TueBear’s eyesight was taken by diabetes and it was already taking away parts of his foot.
TueBear became Richard's guide and teacher for the next several years. At the end of that first weekend, Richard remembers calling him “my new old friend,” as their connection was just so strong. He was not Richard's first teacher, but he was the first who shared Richard's ability to see Spirit, without making him feel crazy. They shared visions and saw the same spirits. TueBear helped clear away some of the obstacles in his path and guided him towards honing his abilities even more.
On 9/11/01, Richard's life, along with the lives of so many others, changed. Born in Queens, New York, Richard always considered himself a New Yorker and especially so on that day. Richard was in the city two days later, after the city was on lockdown for a full day and a half, and wound up volunteering in the city for several months. He would call Chief TueBear to ask for guidance. TueBear was proud of Richard, and he and Ocie asked Richard to be a warrior.
Richard, TueBear, and Ocie traveled to and through many states as well as participating in Bearsong, a gathering of the Elders, in England in 8/2002. It was inspired by the late Grandfather Michael White Bear Walking, aka Michael Bromley, a Celtic Shaman. He and his wife at the time, Marish, were sources of inspiration. Richard was honored to be the Warrior for the Elders, where they spoke of peace in several venues, as well as participated in a Chanupa ceremony in the center of Stonehenge.
Richard was adopted by the southern Cherokee and associated bands in Texas, after several years of going there to participate in ceremony. Although his path is definitely thought of as a medicine man, Richard has always been reticent to use the word "Shaman," as he holds it in such reverence.
Over the years, Richard has continued to take workshops on techniques such as Integrated Energy Therapy as well as Cherokee Bodywork. He also has developed a few tools that he has successfully used in healing sessions through the years. Richard believes that every person is different, and they will be different every time you see them. So it’s important to work on the person in the time that you’re working on them, rather than having preconceived notions as to what they’re going to need.

"I was in such pain that I couldn’t step over the tub to take a shower. I met Richard Malz at a fair in Allentown, PA. He offered me a Reiki session and totally blew me away. I have had Reiki from many people, but nothing like this. After the session, my pain was gone, I could walk without my cane and, after 5 days, the pain is there a little but not like it was."
—Minda Hart, Earth Wisdom, Ann Arbor
"I really need to thank you. I don’t know what it was that you did. But I’ve never felt this way before. I have such a good attitude since sitting with you. My whole outlook has been different. You did for me what medication can’t do. And for that I am grateful. Very grateful. This is how I’ve been wanting to feel. So thank you. Very much! If I start losing it, I’ll be coming back to see you again. "
— Very appreciative, Paula
"Richard is a true shaman and in it for the right reasons, which is important to discern in this day and age! His heart is big, protective and generous. Some of the best healing work that I have ever personally had done [I recieved from him], and I have been in this field for over 15 years. He also came to our center in Pittsburgh and led a great shamanic journey that was well received and attended. I recommend him wholeheartedly."
— Much love, Victoria Zaitz
"Richard helped me and supported me throughout a transformational period in my life. I can honestly say that without his readings years ago, I would not be in the position I am today. He also was very kind to work with me financially, as I was a college student at the time. He is not afraid to tell you your own truth, since that is what we need to hear most! I highly recommend getting a reading by Richard."
"I’ve had multiple sessions with Richard. Being someone who suffers from a multitude of issues from physical to mental illness, I had all but given up hope. A close friend dragged me to a place where Richard had a table set up and a short explanation of his work. As we walked around, I repeatedly found myself drawn back to his table.
"I suffer from fibromyalgia, PTSD, and intense anxiety, just to name a few. I’m not usually someone to let my walls down easily, or at all for that matter. However, this time it was different. When he looked at me it was as if he’d seen my soul and the first thing he did was apologize for the hell I'd been put through and reminded me I didn’t deserve any of it. I found myself sitting in a public space just bawling. I didn’t care — in that moment, no one, nothing else existed.
"The sessions I had with him helped me to process some things that 13 years of therapy couldn’t do. He allowed me to feel safe, and heard as well as understood. He reminded me I wasn’t alone in this world and that I had those on the Other Side fighting for me as well. The work he does is powerful — you just need to be ready to hear it, good and bad."
— Joann R.
"Richard Malz is an outstanding reader / healer. I met Richard about ten years ago and had a number of sessions with him. He also helped my daughter get through a few rough spots in her teenage years! Richard will feel/see/sense what is carried in your soul, then compassionately heal your wounds. If you have an opportunity to sit with Richard, do not pass on it. You will not regret your experience."

"I came from a family who didn’t believe in readings, Reiki, or anything from the holistic community. One day I went to a local show and fell in love with the holistic community. I too was a skeptic when it came to a reading, but I thought what the heck. I won’t give out any information and see what they can figure out. I noticed Richard and thought I would give it a try. At the time, I didn’t know this would start a 10+ year biannual meeting with Richard.
"Richard is very open and honest and calls it like it is. I appreciate his brutal honesty. At the end of the session he will ask if he can give you a hug, and you will get the most amazing bear hug that will make you feel loved and validated. Today I call my meetings with Richard my 'tune-up'.
"Richard has given me advice to help me through some personal issues. I never thought I would overcome those issues and today I am a much stronger person. Richard is actually proud of what I have accomplished!
"Richard will ask for permission to talk with you about family members close to you. He knew the girl my son was dating was not the right girl for him. I disagreed, because at the time they were madly in love. Later, she broke his heart.
"Richard is an amazing person and a true healer. If you have the opportunity to see Richard, I would highly recommend it. He will help you change your life!"
— Linda C.
"Several years ago, I met Rev. Richard Malz at a holistic festival. I was drawn to have a reading with him even though I didn’t think it was 'my kind of thing' at the time. My sister was so taken with the reading I had with Richard that she decided to have him over to do another one for her and I. He traveled quite a long way to come work with us. We still talk about some of the things he said that day; like how he told us that she was afraid to fly and I was afraid to land. Much of the wisdom he shared in our brief encounters has played into our lives and our growth over the years and still lives in our memories."
